Group Vi, the largest media advertising market operator in Russia and Eastern Europe, acquired exclusive rights to selling direct advertising on four flagship channels of Discovery Networks: Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, and ID Xtra. Starting from 2016, they will be joined by Eurosport and Eurosport2. In addition to direct advertising, the agreement provides for sales of sponsor capabilities on these channels.
The partnership between Discovery Communications and National Media Group allowed Discovery to continue developing its presence in the Russian market in full compliance with Russian laws, while the holding company could considerably strengthen its positions in the advertising segment of the pay TV market.
