Press-releases NMG
Anastasia Krasovskaya and Aleksandar Radojičić will appear in the sequel to the detective blockbuster "Red Silk".
Anastasia Krasovskaya ("The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt", "Give Us the Show") and Aleksandar Radojičić ("Hard to Be a God", "The Balkan Line") will join the star-studded cast of "Black Silk", which includes Miloš Biković, Maksim Matveev in the role of Richard Sorge, Chinese actress Zheng Hanyi, Gleb Kalyuzhny, and Yelena Podkaminskaya. "Black Silk" is the sequel to the Russian-Chinese detective action film "Red Silk", a joint project by Nota Bene Film Group studio and the National Media Group (NMG) holding. The film will be released in theatres by “NMG Kinoprokat”.
The film's events take place in 1931. The plot is set in Shanghai – the "New York of Asia", where foreign intelligence agencies clash in a labyrinth of luxurious nightclubs and neon-lit streets. A secret cargo – the "Black Silk" – is being transported to the city. In search of the mysterious object, the Soviet and Chinese protagonists find themselves aboard a passenger liner and a zeppelin, which turn out to be elaborate traps. They are surrounded by Japanese agents, with the vast ocean and sky beyond, and time is running out with each minute. One mistake could lead to a global catastrophe.
Serbian actor Aleksandar Radojičić, who recently played Rumata in the series, will take on the role of one of the film's antagonists. Details about Anastasia Krasovskaya's character are still under wraps, but the creators reveal that her character will be a love interest for one of the main heroes.
Andrey Volgin, the director: "This is a major cinematic spectacle in the best traditions of Agatha Christie and "Mission: Impossible" – a format that audiences loved after "Red Silk". However, we are working on this film without looking back at the previous installment: the story of "Black Silk" will be accessible to new viewers as well. There is a mystery to be solved – and this time, it will be on a much grander scale."
"Red Silk" was released in Russian theatres on February 20 of this year, grossing approximately 700 million rubles at the domestic box office. The film's premiere in China, timed to coincide with the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin, took place on September 4 at Beijing's premier cinema, the China Film International Theatre.
"Black Silk" will be released in theatres by “NMG Kinoprokat” in February 2027.
